Using collage in a painterly manner, artist Joel Zuercher creates work that blurs the line between abstraction and representation. Maps, photographs, fragments of text, and drawn or painted marks often collide on the surface, suggesting memories half-remembered, moments of dislocation, or new associations formed from the ruins of the old. His work frequently touches on themes of loss, transformation, and renewal, evoking both personal history and broader cycles of change and decay. He currently lives in Los Angeles CA .
